An Evening With Rumi will celebrate Rumi, his life and words with both words and music. Esbe will talk about about Rumi and this will be followed by nine songs which she will sing accompanied by her brilliant classical guitarist, Kiril Boshikyov.

Esbe was born and raised in London and classically trained at the Royal Academy of Music. From mixed heritage, part Jewish, part Turkish Algerian and Eastern European, her background has undoubtedly played a part in the music she has been drawn to perform and compose. She has worked with Middle Eastern, North African and Indian musicians, and has written varied and truly eclectic music.

Esbe was introduced to the wonderful poetry of Jalaluddin Rumi by her friend and Rumi scholar, Raficq Abdulla.   An Evening With Rumi will celebrate the poet, his beautiful words and the sensitively composed and performed songs he has inspired.  The songs she will be performing are influenced by melodic and rhythmic regional styles as well as from Early Music alluding to the time the poems were written.

Esbe has recently recorded twelve of her settings of Rumi’s poetry on her album, Desert Songs, which will be released in early April.
